Hendricks Power Announces Board of Directors Redistricting

Redistricting map

Hendricks Power Cooperative’s board of directors recently approved a revised district map (see above). This redistricting, or rebalancing, of directors’ seats was needed to ensure members maintain fair and equal representation. Substantial growth in portions of Hendricks Power’s service territory necessitated these changes. While the physical size of the districts might not look “even,” the actual number of members in each district is more equal.

Prior to any changes, Hendricks Power’s board consisted of 10 directors, each elected to represent a district designated on the map. With the revised boundaries, the board will consist of 7 directors elected to represent a district designated on the map, and 2 at-large directors that may reside in any area within the service territory.*

This is the first time Hendricks Power has revised its districts since its inception in 1936. It was a lengthy process and the board was careful to balance the need for updates along with a growing and ever-changing membership.
