Hendricks Power sponsors students to attend summer youth programs.

Yearly, Hendricks Power and other cooperatives send a few young members to Camp Kilowatt & the Indiana Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.!

Camp Kilowatt
June 5-8, Camp Kilowatt took place at Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, IN. This year, 84 campers from co-ops throughout Indiana participated, with the support of 22 chaperones who helped make the camp a success. Hendricks Power had three members attend: David A., Plainfield Community Middle School, Samantha G., Avon Intermediate East, and Amber K., South Putnam Middle School. Camp Kilowatt offered a variety of exciting activities, including a high-ropes course, horseback riding, canoeing, archery, bucket truck rides, zip lines, rock climbing, swimming, games, and much more.

Youth Tour
June 16-23, the Indiana Youth Tour took place in Washington, D.C. 64 students from 26 co-ops and 10 chaperones went on a weeklong trip to Washington, D.C. Hendricks Power sponsored Clay A., Southmont High School; Lillian (Lilly) L., Avon High School; and Averie W., Danville Community High School. Andrew Wray, Energy Advisor from Hendricks Power, chaperoned. The trip aimed to educate students about American history and government and provided the opportunity to make lifelong friends, and much more. Highlights of the Youth Tour included Gettysburg National Military Park, George Washington’s Mount Vernon, and a visit from Senator Young.
