Meet Andy Lynch

Hendricks Power Board Member and Area 2 Director

Where do you live?
I live in Center Township just north of Danville, which is considered Area 2.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors—whether it's working the land, traveling to take in new sights, or simply lending a hand where it's needed. I’ve lived in Danville my entire life with my family, children and grandchildren, who are all nearby. Spending time with family is a big part of what brings me joy. It means a lot to me to be able to help others, whether it’s pitching in for a neighbor or providing support to friends nearby. Giving back and staying connected to the people around me is a strong value of mine.

Tell us briefly about your background and what led you to join the board.
While attending Purdue University, I spent my summers working at Hendricks Power, which gave me an inside look at how the cooperative operates and serves the community. That experience sparked my interest in the cooperative business model and its member-first approach. After graduating and returning home to farm, I knew I wanted to stay involved and make a meaningful impact, so I decided to run for the board. It was a natural step for me to continue supporting the community I’ve always called home.

Which Cooperative Principle most strongly resonates with you?
The Cooperative Principle that resonates most with me is Democratic Member Control. I believe strongly in the power of giving every member a voice and ensuring that decisions reflect the needs and values of the community. It’s a great honor to represent the people in my area and bring their interests to the board. Knowing that each member has an equal say reinforces the trust and accountability that make cooperatives truly unique and community-driven.

What is your biggest contribution to the board?
Serving on the board for more than 25 years has been one of the most meaningful ways I’ve been able to give back to the community that has given so much to me. My longevity on the board reflects not only my deep commitment to Hendricks Power, but also the strong ties I have to Danville and the people who live here—including my children, grandchildren, and lifelong friends. I’ve always felt it’s a privilege to represent the voices of our members and ensure their interests are at the heart of every decision we make. Through years of change and growth, I’ve stayed grounded in the cooperative principles and driven by a desire to serve with integrity and purpose.
