Hendricks Power Announces ’26-’27 Board of Directors & Annual Updates

Hendricks Power Cooperative hosted its 90th Annual Meeting & Member Appreciation Event on Thursday, July 23, at the Hendricks Co. 4-H Fairgrounds. The event included an election of the board of directors, an electric vehicle demonstration, a live line safety demonstration, co-op updates, and family-friendly activities.

Nearly 2,500 members registered to vote online or at the event, and more than 1,000 members joined HPC at the fair. All voting members received a chance to win one of eight $200 energy credits. The members who registered at the event received $10 in fair food vouchers.

Election results were announced at the business portion of the meeting that evening in the Hendricks Power Expo Hall. The agenda also included cooperative updates and the announcement of the bill credit recipients. Members who attended the business portion of the meeting were eligible to win one of two $500 energy credits.

The business meeting also featured updates on the cooperative’s operations, growth, and community impact. Leadership reflected on the co-op’s 90-year history, tracing its growth from 12 rural founders to more than 40,000 meters and 100 employees across a rapidly expanding area. They also highlighted the financial benefits of the cooperative model, including the board’s approval to return $3.5 million in accrued 2005 capital credits to members this year. Team members emphasized the cross-departmental teamwork and round-the-clock line crew response required to maintain grid reliability during severe weather, while pointing to ongoing investments in local youth initiatives like elementary safety demonstrations and Camp Kilowatt. Guided by this year's theme, "Built to Last," the cooperative remains dedicated to the values that have guided us from the beginning: reliability, service, and community.
