Hendricks Power Cooperative announces Scholarship Winners

Six local high school seniors receive Commitment to Community Scholarships.

Hendricks Power Cooperative recently announced the winners of the 2024 Commitment to Community Scholarship program. More than 41 member applications were received from graduating students.

Allow us to introduce the bright minds who have been awarded the scholarship this year. From the top left, Samuel Beebe, Plainfield High School, Alexis Daigle, North Putnam High School, and Alandria Echavarria, Brownsburg High School. From the bottom left, William Graves, Avon High School, Caroline Hodge, South Putnam High School, and Gabrielle Simonson, North Putnam High School.

Each student will be awarded a $1500 scholarship to be used toward continuing education at the college or vocational school of their choice. These six students have excelled academically and were selected based on their personal achievements, application essays, and other criteria.

Hendricks Power hosted a dinner on May 16 to recognize these students and present them with certificates celebrating their achievements. “We really look forward to the awards dinner,” said Emily Thomas, Marketing Communications Manager at Hendricks Power. “It allows us an opportunity to become better acquainted with the students and their families. We enjoy hearing about their future plans and enthusiasm towards this next step in life.”

🎓 Sam Beebe

High School: Plainfield High School

College: Purdue University

Major: Business Analytics

Sam is an avid soccer player, having played on the Plainfield varsity team for three years. He is a National Honors Society member and volunteers his time at the Riley Dance Marathon and reading to elementary school children. Congratulations, and best of luck in your future endeavors, Sam!

🎓 Alexis Daigle

High School: North Putnam High School

College: Purdue University

Major: Exploratory Studies

Alexis is in the top 15 of her graduating class and has played 4 years of basketball, volleyball, and softball! She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Pep Club, JAG, and Key Club. Congratulations, and best of luck in your future endeavors, Lexi!

🎓 Alandria Echavarria

High School: Brownsburg High School

College: Purdue University

Major: Biology, Pre-Dentistry

Alandria is Chief of Staff of her Student Government organization, Vice President of the Speech and debate Club, along with a member of the Drama and Key Clubs. She volunteers her time with Misty Eyes Animal Center and New City Church. Congratulations, and best of luck in your future endeavors, Alandria!

🎓 William Graves

High School: Avon High School

College: The Citadel, South Carolina

Major: Intelligence and Security Studies – Counter Terrorism & Exercise Science

William is a Track and Cross Country team leader and the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps Command Chief. He is also a member of the West Side Junior Chamber of Commerce, the National Society of Leadership and Success, and the National Society of High School Scholars. William is highly involved in the Wayne Township EMS Academy and was a past Senate Page Day representative. Congratulations, and best of luck in your future endeavors, William!

🎓 Caroline Hodge

High School: South Putnam High School

College: The University of Chicago

Major: Molecular or Chemical Engineering

Caroline is a long-standing 4-H and FFA participant, a member of her high school’s Student Council, and a member of the National Honors Society. She was also the girls’ basketball varsity manager and the varsity track and field manager. Caroline was also named an AP Scholar with Distinction and a Putnam County Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Finalist. Congratulations, and best of luck in your future endeavors, Caroline!

🎓 Gabrielle Simonson

High School: North Putnam High School

College: Ball State University

Major: Biology

Gabbi is the captain of her varsity golf team and chapter president of North Putnam FFA. She also has a passion for animals and is a long-standing member of the Putnam Co. 4-H Dog Club, which she is now president of. She is also a Naturalist and Dolphin Presentation Assistant at the Indianapolis Zoo. Congratulations, and best of luck in your future endeavors, Gabbi!
