Avon, Danville, & Plainfield Rotary Clubs, North Salem State Bank, Endeavor Communications and Parke County REMC provide matching grants to benefit local
back to school efforts

Avon, IN - In efforts to provide local students with “Back to School” Covid-19 relief essentials and support, Hendricks Power Cooperative, Wabash Valley Power Alliance, and its community partners recently funded $15,000 to eleven area school systems within Hendricks, Putnam, and Montgomery counties. Rotary Clubs of Avon, Plainfield, and Danville, North Salem State Bank, Endeavor Communications, and Parke County REMC collectively made matching contributions to Hendricks Powers’ efforts to provide relief to local schools for mandated Covid-19 safety precautionary supplies.

“The initiative began with the local Rotary organizations,” stated Dana Cochran, Hendricks Power Cooperative director of marketing. “The Avon, Danville, and Plainfield Rotary Clubs wanted to ensure schools were able to provide the essentials required for student safety.  Matching dollars provided a greater impact to their respective schools, which we are extremely thankful for. But we also knew we had other school corporations to reach.”

Rotary contributions awarded the Avon Education Foundation, Danville Education Foundation, and Plainfield Education Foundation $2000 each, with matched funding totaling $8000.

“Hendricks Power Cooperative is a great supporter of our communities,” said Charlie Dorton, Avon Rotary President. “We are grateful that they are able to support our efforts with the schools, but also took an initiative to help other schools as well.”

Contributions matched by North Salem State Bank were presented to the following five school systems: Mill Creek Community School Corporation, Northwest Hendricks School Corporation, South Putnam Community School Corporation, North Putnam Community School Corporation, and South Montgomery School Corporation.  Combined efforts awarded these schools with these schools $7000.

“We are extremely happy to see the kids back in school,” stated Matt Howrey, North Salem State Bank president. “We realize this is a difficult time and will continue to support the safety of our teachers, faculty and students in any way we can.”

Endeavor Communications and Parke County REMC were also responsive to the efforts, making matching contributions to school systems within their territories.  Hendricks Power and Endeavor Communications awarded the Cloverdale Community School Corporation with funds, while Hendricks Power and Parke County REMC presented a check to the Greencastle Community School Corporation.  The Brownsburg Education Foundation was also presented a check by Hendricks Power Cooperative.

“We are very pleased with the combined efforts and support of our community partners, especially Wabash Valley Power Alliance, our wholesale power supplier who assisted with our financial contribution,” stated Dana Cochran. “Not only is it our mission at Hendricks Power Cooperative to serve our community, but we hope to inspire others to join forces for the greater good as well.”
