National Co-op Month
Powered by Purpose: Celebrating National Co-op Month
Every October, electric cooperatives across the country celebrate National Co-op Month. It’s a time to highlight the cooperative difference, reflect on the advantages of being member-owned, and recognize the people who make it all possible—you, our members.
“At Hendricks Power, I see purpose in action every day,” said Greg Ternet, CEO. “Unlike investor-owned utilities, we don’t exist to make profits for distant shareholders. We exist to serve our members, neighbors, and communities. That purpose is what sets us apart, and it’s what continues to drive every decision we make.”
Local Leadership, Local Decisions
Being a cooperative means we are owned by our members and guided by local voices. You elect board members who live in your area. They understand the needs of our community and make decisions close to home, not in distant boardrooms.
This local accountability ensures that we remain focused on what matters most: delivering reliable, affordable power and investing in the strength of our communities.
Reliability When It Matters Most
Reliability is at the core of our mission. Our employees and crews live in the same neighborhoods as our members, which means when severe weather or outages occur, we’re ready to respond quickly. We continually invest in infrastructure upgrades, new technologies, and grid improvements to strengthen reliability and enhance service.
A Mission Beyond the Power Lines
Electric cooperatives were built to meet community needs, and that mission extends beyond keeping the lights on. We proudly support schools, youth programs, and volunteer organizations that improve the quality of life. Community support isn’t an afterthought—it’s part of who we are.
Looking Ahead
As demand for electricity grows with new technologies and local economic development, Hendricks Power is planning for the future. We’re committed to providing an energy mix that is both reliable and affordable while continuing to innovate and adapt to members’ changing needs.
Powered by Purpose
That’s the power of the cooperative difference. It’s about more than delivering electricity—it’s about serving neighbors, supporting our communities, and planning for a brighter future.
This National Co-op Month, we encourage you to take pride in your membership. You’re not just a member—you’re an owner, a partner, and a vital part of what keeps our community strong.
Thank you for the trust you place in us. We’re proud to serve you!
