CANDIDATES

 AREA 4

Hal Truax

HAL TRUAX, INCUMBENT

Hal Truax, the incumbent director seeking re-election in area 4, is a lifelong resident of Middle Township and a Pittsboro High School graduate. He owns and operates a diversified no-till cover crop farm near Pittsboro with his son, Ethan, and has been a Hendricks Power member since 1984.

Truax has served on the Hendricks Power Board of Directors for more than 30 years and currently serves as vice president. He also represented Hendricks Power on the Wabash Valley Power Alliance board, serving two years as its chairman, and has completed all electric cooperative director certification programs.

Active in the community, Truax has held leadership roles with the Hendricks County Soil and Water Conservation District, Hendricks County Farm Bureau, and Indiana Sustainable Agriculture. He has served on the steering committee for Leadership Hendricks County and represented Indiana on the resolutions committee of the American Farm Bureau National Committee. He is also a Stephen Minister on the Board of Trustees at Avon United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Susan, have served as 4-H leaders for more than 35 years. They have three children and two grandchildren.
 

Mitchell Alexander

MITCHELL ALEXANDER, CANDIDATE 

Mitchell Alexander resides in Danville with his wife, Allysa, and their two sons. A lifelong resident of Hendricks County, Mitchell graduated from Tri-West High School in 2013. He and his family attend Your Venture Church and are actively involved with Lifewise Academy.

Alexander enjoys spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and golfing, and is an avid sports fan, especially of the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Hoosiers. He is the owner of Alexander Contractors, an excavation and general contracting company based in Pittsboro, Indiana.

 

AREA 5

Keith Cooper

KEITH COOPER, INCUMBENT

Keith Cooper graduated from Ben Davis High School and earned his Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from Purdue University. Cooper farms approximately 2,000 acres, raising corn, soybeans, and wheat. He also raises Black Angus cattle.

Cooper has been a member of the cooperative since 1998 and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2005. Cooper also served on the Hendricks County Fair Board from 1992 until 2003. Cooper currently serves on the executive committee for the Hendricks Power board of directors.

Keith and his family live west of Danville, near Amo. They have two children and two grandchildren.

Dave Thomas

DAVID THOMAS, INCUMBENT

David Thomas is a lifelong resident of Hendricks County and a 1980 graduate of Cascade High School.  He and his wife, Debbie, currently reside in the New Winchester area and have been Hendricks Power members for more than 35 years.

Thomas retired from the Kroger Co. after 42 years of service, a career that began as a part-time bagger at the Plainfield store. Over more than four decades, he served in various roles, including clerk, store manager, district manager and division retail operations manager, a position in which he oversaw 140 stores across Indiana and surrounding states. His leadership earned him the Kroger President’s Award twice—an honor presented annually to an associate who best models the company’s core values of integrity, honesty, diversity, inclusion, safety and respect.

Thomas is actively involved in the community, supporting Hendricks County 4-H, the Hendricks County Community Foundation and Sheltering Wings. He also serves as an elder at the Jamestown Church of Christ and looks forward to continuing his service to the community and the members of Hendricks Power Cooperative.

Charles Harlan

CHARLES HARLAN, CANDIDATE

Charles Harlan is seeking election as one of the At-Large Directors for Hendricks Power Cooperative and believes his extensive professional and leadership experience would be a valuable asset to the cooperative.

A graduate of Valparaiso University, Harlan completed the ROTC program and served nearly six years in the U.S. Army, leaving with the rank of captain. He later worked for the Transportation Security Administration for four years before transferring to the Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Indianapolis. Harlan recently retired after more than 34 years of government service, concluding his career as a financial systems analyst.

Harlan and his wife have been married for 40 years and have a daughter, a son, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren, ages 4 and 6. A devoted Christian, Harlan serves at Center Community Church in Plainfield and takes pride in using his leadership experience to serve wherever needed.
