Empowering Students Award

2025 Empowering Students Award Winners

Hendricks Power proudly awarded two Empowering Students Awards to local teachers this fall: Mr. Fredrick Graf from Plainfield High School and Mr. Kevin Dahlstrom from Brownsburg High School.

The award honors K-12 teachers who inspire their students and make a meaningful difference in their classrooms. Hendricks Power received an impressive 34 nominations from students, parents, and community members. The winners each received $250 for educational items from their wish lists, a trophy to celebrate their achievements, and donuts for their schools.

Mr. Fredrick Graf is a dedicated high school orchestra teacher who was nominated by two current students grateful for his care and generosity. He treats his students as equals, provides snacks and sheet music at his own expense, and encourages them to grow through musical opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. “He is by far the best music teacher I have had, teaching from experience and giving us great advice. Thanks to Mr. Graf, I have many orchestral achievements,” said E. Crawford, current student and nominator. His enthusiasm, creativity, and unwavering support make every concert memorable and inspire students to reach their fullest potential.

Mr. Kevin Dahlstrom, an Integrated Chemistry and Physics teacher, goes above and beyond to support his students by ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to succeed. He provides classroom supplies, adapts online materials for better understanding, and purchased charging stations to support the new laptop initiative. Beyond the classroom, he dedicates his time to coaching track and field, teaching chess, and leading quiz bowl teams.

“At Hendricks Power, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible teachers who shape the future of our communities every single day,” said Emily Thomas, Marketing Communications Manager at Hendricks Power. “This initiative is our way of saying thank you for the time, care, and creativity they pour into their classrooms. We hope these funds help spark new opportunities for both teachers and students to learn and grow together.”
